Sunrise or sunset tour with snowshoes in Riisitunturi National Park

Experience the stunning beauty of Riisitunturi National Park on an intimate small-group excursion designed for 2–8 participants. Together we’ll explore its magical winter landscapes from sunrise to sunset. With snowshoes strapped on, we’ll wander through snowy forests, follow trails, and sometimes make our own paths through deep, powdery snow.

Along the way, your guide will share stories about Riisitunturi’s unique nature and local winter phenomena. We’ll also pause for a relaxing break to enjoy a trail snack and hot wildberry juice by a cozy campfire.

Seasonal Highlights:

• Midwinter Magic: Around Christmas, the sun barely peeks above the horizon, creating a unique Arctic glow. On the Winter Solstice (21st December), the shortest day of the year, the sun rises at 10:42 and sets at 13:20—perfect for a rare and unforgettable experience.
• Blue January: Days are slowly getting longer and we get 5-8 minutes more daylight every day. Early tours (8 am) let you enjoy the pastel colors of the sunrise, while late tours (12 pm) let you watch the sunset as dusk settles.
• Brightening February and Spring Winter: February brings more sunlight, and by March, long, bright days and deep snow create the perfect conditions for exploring. Early birds can still catch stunning sunrises, so don’t hesitate to ask about customized departure times.

• Duration: 3–4 hours + transfers (40 minutes). The duration of the tour depends on group preferences and the weather. 
• Distance: 4–8 km on snowshoes, tailored to current conditions and group preferences.
• Difficulty: Moderately easy, suitable for anyone who can walk the same distance.
• Group size: 2-8
